There is hardly any other object that is as provisional as it is definitive. Flexible but rigid. Once it is tightly fastened, there is no going back. It pulls tighter and tighter and can only be loosened by force or a knife. Neither its function nor its material is sustainable. As mundane and technical as these cable ties may be, they are also very interesting from an aesthetic point of view.
For my project work at Fachklasse Grafik, I experimented with, designed, built and analysed the cable tie. The end product was a seating object and a publication with various photographs from everyday life, stories from acquaintances and studio shots of the seating object.
